See some of my commissioned designs and a “guide” cost from which you may budget for my work. I realize that these designs can be “cribbed” and copies manufactured directly from them. You (and particularly students) are welcome to print them off. I am pleased to be able to share my years of industry with you. However, if you are committed to a project, whether you are a private individual or a developer then my creative experience will help you to get it right. I am sure you will find that it will be a sound investment to employ me to design for you. In some cases the customer has used my designs to tender for a suitable manufacturer, in others I have helped to source a joinery firm. I may be able to help you if you are not able to use your own builders or manufacturer. As a rough guide each of my designs will cost about 10% of the manufacturing cost or £250.00, whichever is the greater; to which is added the cost of travel, parking etc, (please also see my terms and conditions). Click on the water colour pastoral scene of cows to see the design and print them off (a high quality laser printer produces good results, ink-jet printers tend to run and blur). They are drawn from my 27 yrs. of experience. “If you can draw it, you can make it!” |

The customer could not decide upon the most efficient use of this very small room as a bedroom for a studious teenager with a full size single bed, hanging space, shelves and bookshelves. Simon Spencer Designs came up with the three possible solutions from which it was clear as to which was going to be most efficient. Each design would cost about £350.00, so the total cost would be about £1,000.00. But it would be well invested in determining the correct answer to the problem. Note:- in the right hand upper corner the stairway curved into ceiling in the room which restricted use of the upper space in that area. |

This very small room on the half landing required to have a study designed to best advantage. Simon Spencer realized that there would be one view of the desk and bookcases as you descended the stairs and another view as you ascended the stairs from the hall. Simon Spencer designed the study to have mirror aspect so that they would balance seen from both approaches but retaining the light from the Georgian window. The problem of sitting space was overcome by recessing and panelling the space opposite and behind the desk chair. The cost of Simon’s unique concept, design and drawings as seen in the three images below would be about £700.00 |

This room on the ground floor required a working library with plasma screen TV, filing, drawers, desk working area, bookshelves, filing shelves and appropriate radiator cases for the low radiators below the window (blinds to be fitted). The cost of Simon’s unique concept, design and drawings as seen in the five images below would be about £1,200.00 |

The top floor of this London house was divided into two rooms and Simon was asked to design a minimalist style, double wardrobe with existing writing desk and bookshelves between for the bedroom furniture; making allowances in his scheme for removal of partition walls to provide for an en-suite bathroom in the smaller room, but to allow full spans of the windows for light. Blinds were to be fitted - not curtains. The two wardrobes were of differing depths to allow for a larger bathroom and clear window access. The cost of this design, including Simon’s recommendation for the new room and bathroom lay out and adjustments to doors and walls would be about £650.00. Note: that to the left full depth hanging was provided and to the right narrow hanging, shelves and standard product wire pull out tray baskets. |

The Second Bedroom was converted into a students room with wardrobes, bookcases and a desk or working area all as her bedroom furniture. This design was in a 1920’s style to suit the clients taste and was for their teenage daughter with an eye to her growing up without her room being in anyway childish. The cost of this unique design would be about £750.00. |

This main reception room running 7.8 meters long by 3.5 meters wide required a library with bookcases on either side of the main entrance and also along the long wall opposite the windows and on either side of the fireplace. There were to be two recesses for computer workstations. The repetitive “L” sections had one at each end the middle section giving access to the service kitchen through an existing jib door. The style was required to match the existing 18th Century architecture of the building. Detailed elevations of each section were included in the project but are not set out in the designs below. They are available for inspection, by appointment, at our Office if you have a similarly extensive project in mind. The cost of a similar project would be about £2,000.00. |

The main sitting room in a small London terraced house in Chelsea had a chimney breast and RSJ to contend with in the design for a minimalist style bookcase with TV area and concealed equipment for hi-fi etc. The house being built on a bend in the road meant that the walls were not at right angles. It was a nice problem to retain balance in the design and conceal the building’s anomalies, all of which I achieved. |

The main sitting room in a small London terraced late 18th Century house in Regents Park had chimney breasts which were of differing widths, obscured by curtains on the right and by bi-fold doors to the dining room on the left. Arched head, classically styled, alcove bookcases and cupboards were required by my client to be designed by me. They were to balance and take the difficult structures into account. All of which I achieved in my design. The cost of similarly complicated and detailed designs would be about £800.00. |
